Why travelers love it
“Idyllic All-Inclusive Resort on Dominicus Beach”
The standout here is the location: a genuinely beautiful stretch of Bayahibe beach with clear Caribbean water and easy walking access to the village's restaurants and shops. It's an affordable, high-energy all-inclusive that delivers on beach and activities, but recent guest feedback raises consistent concerns about food quality, hygiene, and service — so it suits flexible travelers who prioritize the setting over the resort experience itself.
Food & drink
MixedBuffets are varied and generally satisfying, but hygiene complaints and mediocre à la carte experiences drag the overall food scene down. The paid Atlantis restaurant draws sharp complaints for tiny portions.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Wide buffet selection at Terrazza
- Italian coffee and brands on hand
- Specialty restaurants called excellent by some
Heads up
- Repeated food poisoning reports
- Only two à la carte bookings per stay
- Long waits and crowding at IL Palco
- Atlantis is paid and portions are stingy

Beach
StrongDominicus Beach is the resort's crown jewel: warm, clear Caribbean water at 28°C and soft sand that keeps guests coming back. Crowds and litter can dull the shine in peak periods.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Clear, calm 28°C swimmable water
- Wide spacious sand at Beach and Palace sections
- Pools sit right next to the shore
- Kayaks, paddleboards, and sailboats included
Heads up
- Gets crowded, chairs claimed early
- Cigarette butts and trash reported in the sand
The beach is the resort's strongest asset — soft sand and clear, calm water along the Bayahibe coast, with easy access to the village just steps away. On the downside, recent guests have complained about crowds, loud music carrying onto the sand, and litter, so it doesn't always feel like a quiet tropical escape.

Pools
StrongMultiple pools including a seawater infinity option sit steps from the beach, giving guests real variety. Crowding and upkeep of the kids' pool area are the weak spots.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Seawater infinity pool
- Several pools spread across the property
- Pools positioned close to the sand
Heads up
- Pools get dirty when full
- No dedicated swim-up bar
- Kids' pool zone small and dated
Four freshwater pools including two with children’s areas, plus beachside access and poolside snack bar

- Infinity seawater pool for sunset dips
Heads up
- Honeymooners reported total disappointment

What past guests say
“The service at the hotel is terrible in every aspect, with the exception of the kids' club and the bars. The beach is the only other nice thing about it. But everything else leaves much (and that's an understatement) to be desired. The employees are completely unsympathetic and inattentive; they all treat you badly, with sour faces and ill will. They don't even greet you, and they speak to you grumbling as if they were doing you a favor. It's all excuses and no solutions. All the restaurants...”

“The service and food were poor, the room lacked amenities, and there was only one coffee machine in the breakfast area, which slowed down the service... The juices were watered down...”

★★★★☆
“Enchanting location. Wonderful, very large resort with different areas for every need. International cuisine with various areas for dining or a quick snack, heading down to the beach. Relaxing beach with umbrellas and loungers. Little crowd, no loud music. Coral-like water and a sandy bottom.”

Know before you book
- Guest reports cite poor food hygiene and food‑related illness
- loud music and crowded common areas
- Gets crowded, chairs claimed early
- Cigarette butts and trash reported in the sand
What you should know
What to Know
Come knowing this is a big, crowded, older village with aggressive Viva Vacation Club timeshare pitches and cleanliness that can vary sharply room to room. Book à la carte restaurants immediately at check-in.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Wristband doubles as room key for every family member
- Refillable bottles at water stations across the property
- One hour transfer from Punta Cana airport
- Fully accessible layout with no steps
Heads up
- Persistent timeshare sales pressure
- Only 2 specialty dinners allowed on a 5-night stay
- Multiple food poisoning reports across groups
- Housekeeping and maintenance issues in some rooms
- Atlantis restaurant carries an upcharge
WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up
- Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak risk August–October
- Sargassum seaweed can affect Dominican Republic beaches, though Bayahibe is generally less impacted than the east coast
The closest major airport is Punta Cana (PUJ), roughly 60–90 minutes by road; La Romana (LRM) is closer but has fewer international flights. Wi-Fi is reportedly paid rather than complimentary, so check current policy before arriving. Bayahibe village is walkable from the property and is a great option for a meal out, sunset drinks, or booking excursions to Isla Saona and Catalina. Tipping in USD is appreciated, and bringing small bills helps for porters, bartenders, and housekeeping.
Good to know
- Safety deposit box costs extra
- Spa at nearby sister resort
