Why travelers love it

“Adults-only Sandals debut with mountain-backed seclusion and standout snorkeling”

Guests rave about the dramatic setting: lush green mountains rising behind the resort and a reef just offshore that makes for some of the best on-property snorkeling in the Sandals collection. Service is a repeated highlight, with staff members named by returning guests, though the drive from Argyle airport is longer than most Caribbean transfers.

Derived from a native South American and Caribbean word,
“buccan” refers to a wooden framework or hurdle on which
meat was slow-roasted or smoked over a fire.
With azure coastlines and lush rainforests,
St. Vincent and the Grenadines boast a rich variety
of local seafood and native greens.
Some dishes may be prepared vegan, gluten or lactose free upon request. Consuming raw or undercooked meats, poultry,
seafood, shellfish,or eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness.
DA S H E E N
Tropical plant with edible roots and leaves.
The roots, used in various recipes, have a nutty
flavor and leaves are used by locals to make a
spicy stew. Dasheen is synonymous with taro.
B R E A D F R U I T
Introduced by Capt. William Bligh in 1793 to
St. Vincent and the Grenadines, it became a
consistent food source to the local workers of the
sugar plantations. Originating from the South
Pacific, it's a key ingredient in the national
dish, Roasted Breadfruit and Fried Jack Fish.
G R E E N S E A S O N I N G
A vibrant green paste of herbs, spices, and vegetables mixed with vinegar
and water, enhances the flavor of meats, fish, and poultry, serving as a
Caribbean cooking staple.
C H A D O N B E N I
Also known as culantro, is a potent herb in
Caribbean cuisine, surpasses cilantro in flavor,
containing calcium, riboflavin, iron, carotene,
and vitamins A, B-complex, and C.
C A L L A L O O
Comprises large green leaves from tropical
plants like taro, dasheen, tannia, amaranth,
or yautia root, rich in nutrients akin to collard
greens, kale, or spinach. In Saint Vincent,
it's made with dasheen leaves, while in other
Caribbean regions, it may use amaranth.

Beach

Standout

The beach itself is pleasant but the real headline is the snorkeling right off shore, which beats the paid excursion to the reef.

Editorial beach rating

A protected beach with a healthy reef close to shore, making snorkeling directly from the sand a genuine draw. Guests recommend bringing their own snorkel gear to make the most of it.

Pools

Mixed

Pools are part of the standard Sandals amenity mix but don't stand out as a highlight here; the beach and snorkeling steal the show.

“St Vincent is a beautiful resort. This was our second trip to this resort. We have been to many of the Sandals resorts and this one is one of our favorites. Food was average Sandals fair. Service was good and our butlers were good. When we arrived we were told that our room was double booked in error. So we were put in a lesser priced room for one night and then moved to the proper room the next day. We were promised a $150 credit because we were assigned to the lower price room. Kerry the...”

“This resort is one of a kind. It’s beautiful, the staff is so kind, and most importantly for the people of the gluten free community they are knowledgeable and helpful!! Every restaurant has gluten free options or can point you in the right direction. The bakeries even have multiple gf options! It was such a great experience.”

Know before you book

Not for:families
  • long transfer from the airport
  • occasional bar stock shortages reported on day passes
  • Bring your own snorkel gear
  • Some drinks unavailable with limited substitutes

What you should know

What to Know

The airport transfer is long thanks to winding island roads, and excursions can sell out or get cancelled, so build in resort days as a backup plan.

SVD nearest airport

WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up

  • Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, with peak risk August to October

The transfer from Argyle International (SVD) is on the longer side due to island roads, so plan for extra time on arrival and departure. As with all Sandals properties, tipping is not permitted (except for butlers and spa staff), and the resort is adults-only at 18+. Bring your own snorkel gear if you want to take full advantage of the reef.

Good to know

  • Adults-only, 18 and over
  • Reef snorkeling directly off the beach is a highlight, bring your own gear
  • Airport transfer is longer than typical Caribbean resorts due to island roads
  • Spa treatments can be booked outdoors
  • Cabanas available to rent for the day
