Why travelers love it
“Modern all-inclusive newcomer on Barbados's Platinum Coast”
A newly opened Royalton property on the west coast of Barbados, where guests praise the ocean-view suites, plush bedding, and attentive service. The design leans contemporary and large-scale, which some love and others feel clashes with the island's quieter boutique character.

- Ocean view suites feel like private sanctuaries
- Expansive balconies with crashing-wave soundtrack

Heads up
- No kids club or family programming surfaced
- Sophisticated vibe skews adult
- Loud music may bother young children

“I staycationed at the Royalton recently. The property and rooms are lovely. Very nice gym, rooftop pool, main pool - and lovely cabana's. A nice supply of beverages in the fridge, and a welcome bottle of Mount Gay! Room service is also free. However here are my peeves:

1. On check-in there is a form to complete and section where you put if you're staying for a special reason. My daughter checked in ahead of my arrival and wrote it was her birthday. Not sure why they ask, because...”

“Overall: Poor service, mediocre food and NO follow up from staff.

Our experience at this resort was an unfortunate one. We paid a high price to celebrate my wife's birthday weekend and it was a waste of time and effort to go to Royalton.
There were several instances of poor service, lack of communication and overall severe lack in hospitality. I won't list all the experiences but the one which stands out to me is when it rained and the rooftop was closed. We were told that another...”

The rooms were modern, spotless, and really comfortable.

Overall, just a fantastic experience. Beautiful resort, incredible...”

Know before you book
- Loud music at odds with the traditionally peaceful west coast
- Unwelcoming reception for non-guests at the gate
- Architectural style feels out of place to some locals
- Loud music at times undercuts the romantic calm
What you should know
What to Know
This is a brand-new, imposing resort where everything runs through online channels, so plan bookings and site visits in advance and be ready for a livelier soundtrack than the Platinum Coast usually delivers.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Ocean view suites are the room category to book
- Named staff like Carl deliver memorable service
Heads up
- Walk-ins and casual inquiries not accommodated
- Gate security can come across as rude
- Loud music at times, unusual for this coast
WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up
- Atlantic hurricane season runs June through November, though Barbados sits south of most major storm tracks
- Peak sun and dry season December through April brings the highest rates and crowds
Book and check in online, as walk-up inquiries are not encouraged at the gate. Fly into Grantley Adams International (BGI) on the south of the island; the west coast transfer typically runs 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic through Bridgetown. Barbados uses the Barbadian dollar (pegged to USD) and drives on the left.
Good to know
- Property is brand-new, so operations and reviews are still stabilizing
- Evening entertainment can include loud amplified music, which not everyone appreciates on the Platinum Coast
- Access is gated and geared toward booked guests; casual walk-ins are turned away
- The building's scale is modern and imposing rather than boutique Caribbean
