Food & drink

Strong

Restaurant food is genuinely good, with Hunter's Steakhouse and Grazie Italian as standouts, but scoring a reservation before 9:30 PM is a nightly battle. The buffet is the weak link: fine for breakfast, forgettable at dinner.

Beach

Strong

Bavaro Beach delivers the real Punta Cana postcard: clean sand, calm water, and plenty of loungers directly in front of the resort. Service on the sand is the letdown, with too few waiters working the chairs.

Detailed beach reporting coming soon.

Pools

Strong

Multiple pools plus a genuinely fun lazy river anchor the daytime experience, and swim-out suites are a highlight for those who splurge. Pool-side service is thin and the lazy river can get packed.

What’s included

Mixed

At standard rates this reads as a solid premium property, but the higher you pay, especially for Diamond Club, the harder the cracks in service show. Guests spending $4,000+ on short stays routinely feel shortchanged versus five-star expectations.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

Couples do well here, especially in Diamond Club swim-out suites with a butler arranging romantic dinners and reservations. The vibe skews celebratory rather than intimate, so expect a lively backdrop to your romance.

Families

Good fit

The lazy river, multiple pools, and shuttle to Royalton Splash waterpark make this a legitimate family pick, and kids find food they like across the venues. Just brace for a sprawling property and inconsistent front-desk handling of family bookings.

Peace & Quiet

Mixed

This is a lively, entertainment-driven resort with nightly shows, foam parties, and a busy pool scene, not a retreat. Things do wind down after 11 PM, and rooms themselves stay comfortable.

Features lazy river, FlowRider® (fee), multiple pools, spa, fitness classes, kids and teens clubs, casino, non‑motorized water sports.

What past guests say

“Terrible “resort”. Rooms smell like a water treatment facility. Hair all over the bathroom and sink in our room at check in. My other family members room had underwear in the drawers. Floors are gross and grimey. Their website says Coke products but they ONLY serve Pepsi. Food is cold and rubbery like they bought food from dollar tree and put it in a microwave. No signs anywhere. No menus of what drinks they have like wine and beer. Room service is 45-90 minutes. Then they won’t just give...”

“We are currently staying at Royalton Bavaro in Punta Cana, and approximately two days into our vacation, this has been one of the most disappointing resort experiences my husband and I have had. Based on our experience so far, I would not recommend it.

CHECK-IN AND ROOM SELECTION:
We arrived around 6:00–6:30 p.m. Two guests were already being assisted by two employees, and no one else was waiting ahead of us, yet we waited approximately 40 minutes. “Wow, we loved Royalton Bávaro! Everything was excellent: the drinks, the show, the beach, but what we loved most were all the fitness activities. Thanks, Juan, for the bootcamp!

Hope to see you all soon!”

“During my visit to Royalton Bávaro, I want to highlight how much I enjoyed my stay. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the room was superb, and the room service was fantastic. The fitness classes with instructors Juan, César, and William were also great, especially the bootcamp with Juan. See you soon!”

“I recommend more frequent pest control; I found cockroaches in the bathroom, in the drawers among my clothes, and even on the bed pillow.”
