Why travelers love it

Food & drink

Strong

Dining punches at a five-star level across every venue, with room service that matches the restaurants for quality.

Dining overview

Multiple à la carte restaurants operate on property, and recent guests consistently rate the food quality as among the best they have had at an all-inclusive, with room service also called out positively.

8 documented dining venues

Bonita – Lobby Piano Bar

bar

Bonita is the heart of the resort’s evening scene. As the light fades, live piano music fills the air and the bar becomes a sanctuary of elegance. Classic cocktails, warm ambiance, and soft lighting create an atmosphere perfect for unwinding and connection.

Buena Onda – Poolside Lounge

bar

A dual-concept bar that shifts with the day. In the morning and afternoon, it offers cold-pressed juices, coffee, and refreshing elixirs by the sea. As evening sets in, it transforms into a sophisticated lounge serving botanical cocktails and house-made infusions under the open sky.

Côté à Costa Mediterranean Fusion

Beach

Mixed

The beach has been a weak link, with recent stretches essentially unusable due to conditions outside the resort's control.

The property sits on a sheltered stretch of Riviera Maya coast, but the beach itself has been affected by sargassum and erosion during recent visits, and swimmability varies by season and conditions.

What’s included

Strong

When you book into the Reserve or Diamond Club tier, the experience justifies the spend; standard rooms during the current refresh feel less luxurious than the price suggests.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Ideal

A calm, grown-up hideaway built for anniversaries and quiet celebrations, especially in a Diamond Club or Reserve suite.

Families

Not a fit

Adults-only property, so children are not the intended audience here.

Peace & Quiet

Standout

One of the calmest luxury stays in the Riviera Maya: the resort effectively shuts down by 11pm and the vibe is pure decompression.

Expect a full-service spa, fitness center, and enrichment activities such as cooking classes, mixology sessions, and wine or tequila tastings. The resort quiets down around 11pm, so nightlife is minimal on property.

“Paraiso de la Bonita is a great place to relax and unwind with beautiful grounds tastefully mixed with nature and luxury. Our favorite spot was the breakfast in morning with glances of the ocean great service with Roger and a cute little Coati named Jaunito greeting you from the outside!! The spa service was unique in the attention to detail in the hydrotherapy room. Our Temazcal experience was amazing and my husband and I felt like we were rejuvenated after. “The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome! Food and drinks were very well made. The beach was smaller than anticipated and unfortunately during our stay closed due to the sargassum (not their fault I know). I wish they had a hot tub as onsite for late nights at the pool or after a rainy day when the water temp was cooler. The wildlife around was so cool to see! The bed was very comfortable and the view from our room was incredible. The room was a lot bigger than I thought it...”

Rosie answers from this resort’s guest reviews and our research — with quotes.

Know before you book

Not for:families
  • Beach was unusable for some recent guests due to sargassum and erosion
  • Property felt in transition and somewhat run-down in spots during late 2025
  • Standard drink selection underwhelmed some guests for the price point
  • Very limited nightlife, resort shuts down early

What you should know

What to Know

This is a quiet, adults-only luxury retreat in a transitional phase; book the Reserve or Diamond Club tier and don't expect nightlife or a pristine beach.

CUN nearest airport~25 min transfer

WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up

  • Sargassum seaweed can affect the beach along the Riviera Maya, typically heaviest from April through August
  • Peak hurricane risk runs August through October

Cancun airport is roughly a 25 to 35 minute drive depending on traffic, making arrival easy. If you want the full experience, the Diamond Club upgrade with butler service is what most repeat guests recommend. Plan any late-night entertainment off property, and check recent beach conditions before booking if beach time is your priority.

Good to know

  • The property is in transition under new Royalton Reserve branding, and some areas were still being refreshed in late 2025
  • Diamond Club level unlocks butler service and is repeatedly called out as worth the upgrade
  • The resort goes quiet by 11pm, so it is not a party destination
  • Beach conditions have been inconsistent recently due to sargassum and erosion
  • Enrichment activities include cooking, mixology, and tequila or wine tastings
