Why travelers love it
“An Oceanfront Oasis in Mazatlán's Golden Zone”
This is a refreshingly low-rise, hacienda-style resort right on the sand in Mazatlan's Golden Zone, with a friendly Mexican-village feel rather than the megaresort vibe. Guests consistently praise the staff and location — you can walk to restaurants, shops, and the bus into Old Mazatlan — though the all-inclusive plan here is optional rather than automatic, so confirm what's included when you book.
Food & drink
MixedFood is tasty but the lineup is tight: a buffet plus a handful of à la carte spots (Cilantro's, Angelo's Italian, Pescados/Asian fusion) that repeat quickly on longer stays. Angelo's is the consistent standout for both plates and service.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Angelo's Italian is the clear favorite
- Named servers (Irving, Alejandro, Alfonso) get repeat shout-outs
- Poolside food and drink service works well
- Buffet covers standard and local dishes
Heads up
- Only about three real restaurants, menus rarely change
- Buffet closed at lunch, long waits to be seated
- Upcharges on some à la carte dishes (shrimp add-on)
Dining overview
Dining centers on Las Palomas, the main buffet with regional Mexican breakfasts and themed dinner nights, plus Angelo's for Northern Italian in a remodeled black-and-white dining room. Sister-property Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay's restaurants are accessible by shuttle, expanding your options.

Beach
StrongA flat, walkable sandy beach with clear Pacific water, comfortable palapas, and attentive beach servers like Oscar and Ramon. It's a shared public beach, so expect vendors, bandas, and, as of late 2025, some hurricane-related access limits.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Soft sand, clear water, minimal seaweed
- Large resort palapas and comfy chairs
- Standout beach service (Oscar, Ramon, Lenard)
- Authentic Mexican beach atmosphere
Heads up
- Hurricane damage limited access recently
- Deceptive waves, not always ideal for swimming
- Constant hawkers selling jewelry, braids, jet skis
Located on a long, sandy beach in Mazatlán’s Golden Zone, offering direct access to the sand and water.

Pools
StrongMultiple pools with strong poolside food and drink service from a well-known crew (Oscar, Fausto, Antonio, Noe). Loungers and hardware are showing their age, and the advertised swim-up bar isn't really operating as described.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Multiple pools across the property
- Attentive pool servers by name
- Drinks and food delivered to your chair
Heads up
- Loungers old, some broken
- Advertised swim-up bar not as described
- Main pool crowded with families
- Tiny hot tub
Two large outdoor pools with swim‑up bars, plus a hot tub; central family‑friendly vibe

What’s included
MixedPriced reasonably for an all-inclusive in the Golden Zone, and fair value if you go in expecting a dated timeshare-era property rather than a true five-star. Nickel-and-dime charges (room service fees, bottled water, à la carte upcharges) chip away at the premium feel.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Reasonable all-inclusive pricing
- Suites offer space for families
- Grounds and linens well maintained
Heads up
- Property feels dated, not five-star
- Extra charges for water, coffee, room service
- Repetitive menus over a week-plus stay
- Advertised amenities (swim-up bar, 5 restaurants) overstated
Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.
Amenities & activities
Couples
Good fitA quietly romantic pick for anniversaries and low-key getaways, especially for repeat couples who honeymooned here years ago. Don't expect adults-only polish; expect a smaller resort with sunset walks, attentive pool servers, and a lively local beach vibe.
medium confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Anniversary and honeymoon returners
- Smaller footprint feels intimate
- Angelo's works as a date-night dinner
- Sunset beach with bandas music
Heads up
- Not adults-only, pools skew family-busy
- Dated rooms lack luxury romance polish
Families
Good fitA workable family base in the Golden Zone with a busy family pool, walkable beach, and suites that give kids their own space at a reasonable price. There's no dedicated kids club, so parents drive the entertainment.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Suite layouts with separate kids' space
- Free aquarium visit included
- Family-friendly pools and flat, walkable beach
- Activity director runs bingo, crafts, water aerobics
Heads up
- No formal kids club
- Main pool gets crowded with families
- Beach waves can be deceptive for small swimmers
Peace & Quiet
StrongThe resort itself is relaxing and small enough to feel calm, but the public beach out front is authentic Mazatlán: bandas music, hawkers, and boisterous local beachgoers. Peaceful on the grounds, lively at the sand.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Small, easy-to-navigate property
- Angelo's is a quiet dinner spot
- Well-kept gardens and grounds
- Relaxing pool atmosphere off-peak
Heads up
- Loud bandas music on the adjoining public beach
- Persistent beach vendors and hawkers
Fitness center, business center, airport shuttle, daily activities for all ages, two bars, five restaurants, spa

“Leaving some guests”

“I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND staying at this hotel. First of all, my mother suffered food poisoning from the bacteria "Entamoeba coli." According to the doctor, "its presence in a stool sample indicates fecal contamination of food, or the need to improve hygiene measures in food preparation." This happened after eating at the Cilantro restaurant on the second day of our six-day stay. She has been extremely ill and unable to leave her room, and we have incurred enormous expenses for medical...”

Know before you book
- Hurricane damage limited access recently
- Deceptive waves, not always ideal for swimming
- Constant hawkers selling jewelry, braids, jet skis
- Only about three real restaurants, menus rarely change
What you should know
What to Know
This is a timeshare property, and you'll feel it: an aggressive presentation pitch at check-in, wristband scans throughout the resort, and marketing that oversells the restaurant count and swim-up bar. Come in with realistic expectations and it delivers.
high confidence
What you'll enjoy
- Free shuttle to sister property Emerald Bay
- Free aquarium visit included
- Golden Zone location, 30 min to Centro Histórico
- Small footprint is easier for mobility
Heads up
- Pushy timeshare pitch at check-in
- Website overstates restaurants and swim-up bar
- Charges for bottled water, coffee, room service
- Some rooms lack fridges, hangers, drawers
- Tipping expected for attentive service
WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up
- Pacific hurricane season runs June through November with peak risk in September
- Whale-watching season runs roughly mid-December through March, which also brings cooler ocean temperatures
Mazatlan International Airport (MZT) is roughly a 25–35 minute drive south of the Golden Zone. Tip in pesos or dollars for housekeeping, bartenders, and the activity staff. The all-inclusive package at Pueblo Bonito properties is an add-on rather than mandatory — verify your plan covers meals, drinks, and any sister-resort dining before arrival. Plenty of staff speak English, but a few Spanish phrases go a long way.
Good to know
- The all-inclusive meal plan is optional here — confirm exactly what's included on your rate
- Low-rise hacienda architecture rather than a high-rise tower; expect more steps and outdoor pathways
- Walkable location in the Golden Zone with restaurants, shops, and bus stops just outside
- The Pacific surf can be strong; the pools are the calmer swim option
- Guests get reciprocal access to sister property Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay via shuttle
