Food & drink

Strong

Food quality is consistently strong across the à la carte restaurants, with Kelly's, the sushi spot, and the breakfast buffet drawing repeat praise. Room service is the weak link: slow delivery times and a thin kids' menu.

Dining overview

Dining options include French and international fare at La Cordeliere, which hosts a popular Champagne Sunday Brunch, as well as The Bistro, the poolside Sunset Grill, Emerald Grill, and Emerald Sushi. Bars include the poolside Aquabar and the elegant Kelly's Bar. The all-inclusive plan also covers dining at the nearby sister resort, Pueblo Bonito Mazatlán, and 24-hour room service.

Beach

Mixed

The beachfront is scenic with dramatic sunsets and no islands blocking the horizon, but the sand itself is a step below Mazatlán's best. Debris and storm damage have left the access and shoreline needing attention.

Editorial beach rating

Private beach that is generally safe for swimming, no permanent seating or facilities; suitability varies seasonally.

Pools

Standout

Three pools including a large central infinity pool by the water and a dedicated adults-only pool with bar, both backed by excellent poolside service. The catch: deck furniture and finishes are showing their age.

Editorial pool rating

Two swimming pools with swim-up bars, including one for adults only, and a separate children's pool.

What’s included

Strong

For the price, most guests feel they get an oversized suite, kitchen, three pools, and hospitality that rivals pricier destinations. Longtime timeshare owners, however, note visible aging that makes the premium harder to justify.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

An adults-only pool with bar service and sunset ocean views give couples their own corner within this family-leaning resort. Expect romance through quiet and scenery rather than nightlife or wedding pageantry.

Families

Ideal

A genuine multi-generational favorite: spacious suites with kitchens, three pools, gardens with animals, and staff who remember returning families year after year. The property's size means you'll want to hop the cart shuttle with kids in tow.

Peace & Quiet

Strong

Set north of Mazatlán on a secluded 20-acre bay, this is a genuine relaxation retreat rather than a party resort. Recent group bookings and poolside speakers have chipped at that reputation, but the default vibe remains calm.

Includes Armonía Spa with hydrotherapy circuit, fitness center, salon, children’s pool and playground, babysitting service, lighted tennis court, business center, shuttle to sister resort, dry cleaning/laundry, concierge and complimentary Wi‑Fi.

What past guests say

“Honestly, the RIU is much better. There's no water in the rooms, everything costs extra even with the all-inclusive plan, the staff are kind of rude, everything is very limited, they give you very small portions of food, it's not worth what you pay for the service they offer. There are many better options at better prices; everything is geared towards Americans.”

“A very nice experience overall, except for the woman who runs the deli; she's not very empathetic. Of the days I visited, she was only kind and explained things well once; the other days she was rather rude. The hotel itself is beautiful, but it was difficult to get to the room due to its size.”

What you should know

What to Know

The property is much bigger than it looks, so book the internal cart shuttle and reserve town shuttles in advance. Timeshare ownership is baked into the guest culture here, and the hardware is starting to show its age.

WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up

  • Pacific hurricane season runs June through November with peak risk in September
  • Whale-watching season (Dec-Mar) brings cooler ocean temperatures and occasional windy beach days

The resort is approximately 40 minutes from Mazatlán International Airport (MZT). Check‑in is at 4:00 p.m. and check‑out is at 11:00 a.m. The all-inclusive plan is optional. Dinner reservations are strongly suggested. Gratuities for bellboys and housekeeping are included in the all-inclusive plan, but additional tips are appreciated.
