Why travelers love it

“Marina-front Mazatlán stay with Pacific sunsets and access to a wider resort complex”

It sits right on Mazatlán's marina with a private golden-sand beach and reliably attentive staff, plus complimentary shuttles unlock the pools, restaurants, and golf at the other El Cid properties. The trade-off is a slightly older, Mediterranean-style hotel rather than a flashy modern resort, and service can stretch thin when the property is full.

Best for families with kidsBest for multigenerational groupsBest for sportfishing enthusiastsBest for couples wanting a quieter Mazatlán base

Food & drink

Strong

Consistently praised as some of the best food in Mazatlán, with variety across the property and repeat visitors calling out standout meals.

Dining overview

On-site dining centers on La Marina, with catch-of-the-day and international plates overlooking the yachts, and La Terraza, an outdoor spot known for sunset views, steaks, and seafood. The all-inclusive plan also extends to restaurants at the neighboring El Cid resorts, which significantly expands your options.

Beach

Strong

The small private beach is clean, well-tended, and served by attentive palapa staff, though this is Pacific Mazatlán rather than Caribbean postcard water.

Editorial beach rating

The hotel fronts a private stretch of soft golden sand along the Pacific, with palapas, loungers, and waiter service. It is calmer than the open beaches on the Zona Dorada side, though Pacific surf can still kick up.

Pools

Standout

The pool complex is the headline feature: large, warm, and anchored by a wave pool with volcanic rock and a waterfall, plus daily animation.

Editorial pool rating

There is a heated outdoor pool with a swim-up bar and hot tub on property, and guests can use the additional pools at the sister El Cid hotels via the free shuttle.

What’s included

Strong

For a mid-range Mazatlán stay, the food, pools, and service punch above the price, especially on the Elite plan, though nickel-and-diming on parking and extras frustrates some.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

Marina and sunset views from private balconies make this a quietly romantic pick, and it works well as a wedding or post-wedding recovery base.

Families

Good fit

A genuinely family-friendly Mazatlán stay with large pools, animation programs, and a small private beach that keeps kids busy across generations.

Peace & Quiet

Strong

The overall vibe is peaceful and garden-like, though the working marina next door occasionally means early boat crews and dockside noise.

Guests get a full-service marina with sportfishing, a spa, fitness center, tennis, kids club, and reciprocal access to the El Cid Golf & Country Club and three nearby sister hotels by complimentary shuttle.

What past guests say

“Rooms are nice and the pools are clean. The location is fairly quiet from outside traffic noises. Food/beverage quality and service have really gone down hill in the last 2 years. Still a nice relaxing vacation.”

“The hotel itself was fine - very large, clean rooms, good service and very quiet compared to many Mazatlan hotels. The main issue I had was that I felt that we were misled. I had no idea that most of the restaurants were at the other hotels and we would need to take a shuttle to get there. Additionally none of the children’s Halloween activities that were listed at this hotel were actually held at the hotel. Getting dinner reservations was impossible and the one night we tried to go to...”

“Updating my review because Katia, the manager at El Cid, is absolutely amazing! She took the time to genuinely listen to my concerns, and I truly appreciate her professionalism and kindness.

The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff has been wonderful overall.

However, I would strongly recommend staying away from the people stationed across from the front desk who are focused on selling vacation packages. What you should know

What to Know

Skip the timeshare and vacation club pitch, confirm your reservation details in writing, and know that this is an older property inside a larger El Cid complex with shuttle access.

MZT nearest airport~25 min transfer

WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up

 • Pacific hurricane season runs June through November, with highest storm risk August–October
 • Cooler, breezier ocean conditions December through February

The airport is about 25–30 minutes south of the resort and taxis or pre-booked transfers are the easiest option. Wi-Fi is reportedly paid in some areas, so confirm at check-in if connectivity matters. Tipping in pesos or dollars is appreciated, and a few words of Spanish go a long way with the largely bilingual staff. Use the free shuttle to sample the dining and pools at the other El Cid properties — it's one of the best perks of staying here.

Good to know

 • All-inclusive guests can use facilities and restaurants at three sister El Cid hotels via complimentary shuttle
 • Full-service marina on-site with sportfishing charters available
 • Wi-Fi appears to be paid rather than complimentary in some areas
 • Mediterranean-style architecture — charming but not a brand-new modern resort
 • Ranked #1 of 143 hotels in Mazatlán on TripAdvisor with a 4.7 average
