Why travelers love it

“Laid-back Dreams getaway on a quiet Mazatlan beach with its own golf course”

This is one of the smaller, calmer Dreams properties, sitting on a long empty stretch of Pacific beach about 20 minutes south of Mazatlan proper. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff and relaxed pace, though the isolation means pricey cab rides into town and an ocean that is not always safe for swimming.

Food & drink

Strong

Solid all-around dining with no reservations required for à la carte, though temperature issues and a missing breakfast à la carte option surface.

Dining overview

A handful of à la carte restaurants and a buffet cover the usual Dreams range, and a nice perk is that no reservations are required. Reviews are mixed on temperature (some dishes arrive lukewarm) but flavor and variety generally land well.

Beach

Mixed

The beach is long, quiet, and scenic with wildlife sightings, but swimming is officially discouraged due to stingrays and jellyfish.

Editorial beach rating

A wide, uncrowded beach that stretches for miles in both directions, ideal for long walks and even the occasional whale or dolphin sighting from shore. The Pacific surf can be strong here and lifeguards often flag the water due to stingrays and jellyfish, so most swimming happens in the pools.

Pools

Strong

The pool is the true swimming hub given the ocean advisory, with strong server attention and natural wildlife views.

“Everything was wonderful, except that last night I reported a water leak (maybe potable water or maybe sewage) in the vault above the bathroom vanity. I reported it through the friendly operator at 10 pm, who told me that maintenance personnel would come, but they never did. I called again at 11 pm and, very politely, she NEVER answered. It was my last night; I had to sleep... much to my dismay, I went to bed to try to sleep...”

Know before you book

  • food often served lukewarm
  • far from Mazatlan with pricey cab fares
  • ocean generally not safe for swimming
  • limited and low-quality pool floats

What you should know

What to Know

You're isolated from Mazatlan proper, so plan for pricey taxis, and know the ocean is a look-don't-swim situation.

MZT nearest airport~20 min transfer

WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up

  • Winter months (December to March) bring cooler Pacific water and stronger surf
  • Hurricane season runs June through November on Mexico's Pacific coast

The resort sits well outside central Mazatlan, so a taxi into town runs high and adds up quickly if you plan to leave the property often; budget accordingly or plan fewer, longer excursions. Bring your own pool float if you like one, as loaner tubes are limited and gift-shop versions do not hold up. Tipping in USD is appreciated, and standout staff at the pool bar and Preferred Club lounge are worth remembering by name.

Good to know

  • Ocean swimming is often restricted due to stingrays, jellyfish, and Pacific surf
  • Roughly 20 minutes from Mazatlan airport but a long, expensive taxi to the historic center and Malecon
  • On-site 18-hole golf course is a major draw
  • Smaller footprint than most Dreams resorts, so less walking between amenities
  • No reservations needed at à la carte restaurants
