Food & drink

Strong

Food punches above the resort's midrange billing, with a strong buffet spread and five themed à la carte restaurants that guests genuinely rave about. The oceanfront Bloved (Privileged-only) is the culinary headliner; expect a few misses at lunch and dinner buffets and tight reservation availability.

Beach

Standout

Playa Maroma lives up to its reputation as one of the Riviera Maya's best beaches: soft sand, turquoise water, plentiful palms. Sargassum still arrives seasonally, though the crew keeps the sand notably cleaner than neighboring properties.

Detailed beach reporting coming soon.

Pools

Strong

The main pool is clean, well maintained and a genuine highlight, with lively daytime animation and a swim-up bar. The catch: essentially one main pool serves the whole resort, which can feel crowded and too loud for anyone seeking calm.

What’s included

Mixed

At standard rates the beach, food variety and grounds deliver solid midrange value, and many call it the best bang for the buck in the area. Skip the Privileged upgrade and some feel the base experience lacks polish; billing errors and forced room upgrades have burned a few guests.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Good fit

A romantic jungle-and-beach setting with live-music evening shows, spa couples massages and oceanfront dinners at Bloved make this a genuine couples pick, especially with the Privileged upgrade. A few room-assignment missteps (separate beds, construction noise) have soured a handful of anniversaries.

Families

Stretch

Kids club, pool and beach keep children happy and several families call it a wonderful trip, but the sprawling layout, single main pool and inconsistent luggage/room handling create friction for multi-generational groups. Family-room booking rules on the website have also tripped up larger parties.

Peace & Quiet

Strong

The jungle setting, palm-lined beach and hidden room blocks deliver the tranquil, nature-immersed vacation many come for. The trade-off is loud, constant poolside animation during the day that clashes with the otherwise relaxed vibe.

What past guests say

“Fantastic hotel, surrounded by nature and tranquility. The food was delicious, and the service from all the staff was excellent. Special thanks to the young man at the lobby and Mr. Noe from El Pajarito restaurant—they were incredibly kind. We will definitely be back.”

“The resort is good value for money. I stayed in a privilege romance room, and the room was huge and very beautiful! But the bed was very uncomfortable, it felt like a bed you buy at the supermarket. Being a privilege room gave us access to an extra restaurant in the resort and more privileged access to the beach.
The resort has a good nightly show, but the daily entertainers are quite weak, and the resort doesn't have many activities to do.
The beach and the pool are the highlight of...”

“I went with my children to the Asia themed restaurant, it was truly wonderful, the food was delicious and the chef was very nice and impressed me with her tricks and great humour. The list is not extensive but very special, the food is prepared before your eyes, the chef's name was Judith, a truly exceptional experience even if it's not very Mexican themed but worth trying.”

“Highly recommended! I came to celebrate my birthday here and I loved everything, from the facilities and service to the restaurants—10 out of 10! At Tepanyaky, Chef Judith and our waiter Fernando provided excellent service 🌴🙌🏽🫰🏾 Jackie, the entertainment girl, was also very nice and had great vibes. Honestly, the service in general is very good.”

Know before you book

 • Occasional seaweed (sargassum) on the beach
 • Long walking distances across sprawling grounds
 • Some rooms feel dated and need renovation
 • Sargassum can be heavy in summer months

What you should know

What to Know

This is a large, jungle-spread property where logistics matter: the Privileged package meaningfully upgrades the stay, restaurant reservations must be locked in early, and the layout means long walks with luggage. Timeshare pitches and a few billing surprises round out the caveats.

WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up

 • Seaweed (sargassum) risk — beach may be covered periodically

Long walks between lobby and beach; ask for rooms in buildings 5 or 6 for shortest distance; expect time-share sales pitches at check-in; beach may accumulate sargassum — cleaned frequently.
